CD / DVD Read error

am having a problem and feel I have tried everything to fix it. I just re-installed XP and updated my BIOS. And I am still having this problem:

When I attempt to install a program from CD, for example Adobe Photoshop 6 the following screen appears to go normally:

And then after about 5 minutes, the step-by-step install will appear:

i have tried 2 different DVD drives, setting each one as master or slave.. using one at a time, changing the IDE cable and I still haven't found a solution.

My motherboard is an ASUS P4P800 SE.

Any help is appreciated.


Here are the results of a Nero CD-DVD speed test:

Note: When installing XP I had one hell of a time also. XP Kept telling me it couldn't find certain files on the CD, however the CD was unscratched. It took me 4 tries to get XP to install correctly.
