A Need To Upgrade

I have an ASUS mb, A7V8X-X. Does this board handle low or high density RAM? And is it non-ECC? I have 3 - 512 units of PC2700 RAM and I want to max it out to 3 gigs. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2600+. Is there a better processor out there for me. While I'm at it before too long I want to upgrade my MB. I want to do motion graphics, take advantage of a good bus, a lot of memory and good processor. I will not be able to afford the super expensive jobs, but would like some capability. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. I prefer AMD product.

list of cpu supporeted in you board . http://support.asus.com/Cpusupport/List.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=A7V8X-X&p=1&s=10

I'm most appreciative of this. Trying to figure out the best of those on that page, and which one, if any, is that much better than the Athlon 2600+ in my system now is my next project. Thanks
