Here's what I know;
It's a Dell Inspiron 3500, running XP Pro SP1
When I try to connect anything to the Com. port, said device's installation cannot find it. I look in Device Manager and COM1 has a little yellow (!) on it.
Properties tells me this;
Device type: Ports (COM & LPT)
Manufacturer: (Standard port types)
Location: on Generic Bus
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
...and recommends the Troubleshooter Wizard, which doesn't help.
Any ideas? I tried searching for driver updates on Dell's site but didn't find any downloads that seemed to apply.
