Lowliests new life- CPU mobo

Expand Post »
I've been parting out a few retired PCs. My first PC I've commented on a number of times, is 5 years old with 370 socket Celeron and needed an upgrade. I came into a couple Slot 1 mobo PCs recently as well as upgrading my 370 chips themselves. I am under the impression ANY slot one can be adapted to 1GHz or 1.3, etc with the adapter cards, or upto 900MHz with P3 Slot 1 cards, but I've yet to see this work. My computers with these slots are marked as Pentium 2s and have the associated driver firmware when loading up the HDD for the first time. Do I only need make jumper or BIOS changes to remedy this? I am also upgrading memory but has been much less of a problem.
With 700MHz on up, digital video in MPEG2 is virtually effortless.
