I dont see any problem with it. Its just one of those things where we are used to having things even and then as soon as there not we start thinking that there must be something wrong with doing it uneven. That and the RAM makes would much rather you buy 2 512 sticks then 1 512 and a 256 because they make more money that way.

They say it shouldnt make a difference but putting the biggest and fastest RAM in the 1st slot does

Some types of ram it has to (DDR?)
Sodimms (laptopa) dont as my tp has 384 - 1x 128 and 1x256
Go on crucialmemory.com and run the wizard it will tell u whether it needs to be in matched pairs or not
