IDE missing in bios

Hi All
I am new to building PCs. Ihave installed a Gigabyte GA 81945p Pro board and bios does not seem to identify any hard drive or optical drive connected to IDE 2. If they are connected to IDE 1 they are identified.
Can anyone help
