plug and play error message/cd rom drive

Expand Post »
members;

i hope i have the right area to post this. I am new and this is my very first post.

I booted up my computer and all i can get it the black screen with white letters saying; " Plug and Play ISA device" error message. I know for sure it has something to do with my cd rom drive as when i plug it into the computer then i cannot get anything at all. There is a black and red wire, only 2 wires that run from the power box inthe box/inside of the machine that I know are supposed to get hooked into the d rom drive when you install it. This i plugged in and smoke started, this is when the error message came up....

HOW can I fix this, can I somehow get these 2 new wires ( red and black) and reinstall, or should I try hooking the cd rom drive up another way? These 2 wires have a little black thing on the end with 3 prongs or holes to fit into the back of the cd rom drive.

HELP please...... ASAP.
