Need directions - PATA master SATA slave

Expand Post »
HP Pavillion a1410n with Samsung SP 2004C HDD. Would like to make Seagate U6 ST380020A the master drive and Samsung the slave. Seagate jumpers set to master. Not familiar with slaving SATA drives, especially with non-SATA master. Please advise.

Re: Need directions - PATA master SATA slave

There are no jumper settings on a sata hard drive. Just set the boot order correctly in your bios and you should be good.

Rik from RCE is right.

Each SATA drive has is own cable so there is no master or slave for that cable.

Go into BIOS and set the segate drive as the second in the boot and the other drive after it; the CD/DVD drive should be first incase you need to boot from CD/DVD.

Hope this helps.
