2 DVD Drives not working

Hi all

I just installed my new motherboard, along with RAM and Processor

Motherboard: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167782#
Processor: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/168970/show_product_reviews

Ram: http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=4B84BC76A5CA7304

I have had a problem in that I cant get windows to see my drives in "My Computer".

I had first of my DVD/RW Writemaster SH-S222 which is seen in BIOS and device manager although it has the yellow mark by it.

Then i tried my other DVD, not a R or RW drive, same result. So i put the non writer drive on a usb external kit and it worked but due to installing updates etc due to new build, after 2 restarts it was no longer working, yellow mark in device manager.
Both drives are in device manager but with yellow mark.

I have spent 2 hours swopping these drives around. I have uninstalled re-installed, tried updating, using different IDE cable tried nearly everything.

I even tried this registry fix I found http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/607659-solved-computer-doesnt-recognize-cd.html 3rd post down

I do not know what to do know, new board, x4 processor and I cant even load COD 4 onto the machine, :-(

Can anyone help me please?

Many thanks

Hello,

Have you set the jumpers to the correct setting on the drive connected to IDE cable?

If you double click on the device with the exclaimation mark what is the error description?

do as suggested by Xlphos check your jumper settings..were you able to boot from your dvd drive or not? if you were able to boot then i suppose it could be on your OS..your mobo comes with the disc that has all the drivers install it, check if it will help :)

HI guys

Thanks for the replies but it suddenly started working again, strange. Anyway I had to re-install windows again due to Service Pack 3 screwing up and the drives worked first time after the install so I think it was probably just a glitch. Thanks for you help
