buying external HD

I am in need of an external HD as I want to keep an archive of my old data. So I was wondering if you could recommend me to the one that is not very expensive but relieable. I think about 40-60 GB of space would be great, but it is not really an issue. Also, I am not familiar with the other techincal feature of an HD so bear with me.

why do you mean? can you use it with linux? sure you can. but that may depend on the linux distro you have. do you know what it is?
