Hard drive light staying on

Hello,

A few days ago for no apparent reason my hard drive light has began to stay on and my cd/rw is not recognized on my computer. I searched the forum and found that someone else had a similar problem but it didnt help me. I dont know if I have picked up a virus or something can anyone help?

try disconnecting the CD drive and see if the problem is resoled. If it is, its the CD drive at fault. Also, see if the drives are detected in the BIOS
