Cant access hard drive.

I have a SATA western digital 160 GB hard drive. I have formatted it in NTFS but no OS installed, I use it for storage. Recently I havent been able to access it, it doesnt show up in "my computer". The BIOS recognizes it, I even go into disk management and it says it is active, but when I right click everything is greyed out except "delete partition".

When I start my computer with the windows xp setup cd and go into fdisk, that particular hard drive has "partition1 (inactive(OS/2 BOOT MAN (size of disk)))" I was wondering if there is anyway to get the drive operational without losing the ton of stuff I have on it. Thank you.

If it is not detected by the computer, you may need a computer whiz to fix it. Adjusting the BIOS settings should fix it, but since there is valuable data involved, I would get some help.
