Installing DVD writer s-ata

I am trying to install a dvd writer that has s-ata cables only problem is that my system uses ide cables. Can this work and how?

The best way is to install a SATA controller card.

you can get a sata card from microdirect or somewhere for really cheap it a plug and play product
