sata hdd loses raid drivers

occasionally system will not reconize the sata drive when booting up. The cure is to reload the sata raid drivers from mother board manufactor. Like you have to do when you are installing windows xp for the first time where is says press f6 to load any additional drivers. no data is lost the system just doesnt see the hard drive. after reloading the drivers and doing a repair on the xp os it then works with no data loss. I havent tried it with reloading the driver (from floppy) and then skipping the repair. Its a ASUS motherboard
