Newbie Here . . . Be Patient; Laptop Won't Turn On

Inspiron 8200 operated well all day. Tried to turn it on this afternoon; push power button and within 5 seconds a "click" is heard and machine turns off. Nothing else happens.

Any ideas?

Just how noobie are you? Is the battery charged and connected properly and cleanly?

Oh sorry. Didn't mean to offend. From my experience hardware problems with laptops of this severity are usually 10x more complex to solve than with home PCs. It could be something as simple as the PSU, but I can't help you with any information on how to change that. Because I've never done it on a laptop :P
