Installed XP SP3 update... shortly after computer refuses to boot. Powers on, No beeps, no lights on Keyboard, no cursor, black screen, fan runs, tried booting with floppy, bootable CD, nothing. Installed HD into harddrive enclosure and connected to another PC and data is intact, hard drive works.
Removed fan from processor - very dirty, took heat shield off processor, crusted on dust - smells burnt.....
Is it just a coincidence that this happened after installing the SP3 update? or is the processor toast??
