Toshiba laptop wont power up.

Hello, firstly thank you for being here for dupes like me to come to when all hell breaks loose.

I have a toshiba laptop/paperweight.

I am not sure why it has done what it is doing, but I will try to explain.

When i try to power up the system, all initial lights come on, hard drive starts working, then two seconds (exactly), it all shuts off.

When i then try the power button again, the blue light ring around button lights up for nano second then dies.

It doesn't matter whether the power cables is connected or not, as it does the same.

Can anybody offer me some explanation as to why this happens?

Thank you in advance.
Brian

Typically, this would be a problem with overheating, bad memory or some other hardware failure.
Does your fan work? Try re-seating the memory or the hard drive.
Unplug any peripherals you may have attached.
