Hello i am having a problem with my friends computer.

When I boot the computer everything seems OK and the windows loading screen comes up, but then it says "Setup is being restarted" then it goes to a blue screen and says "STOP: c00002la fatal system error". There's no valuable data on it so i figure a reinstall of Windows is in order. However, the computer won't boot from the CD drive, instead going straight to the hard drive. When i disable the hard drive in the BIOS, the computer does nothing and then displays "strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility", and then when i hit retry it just displays the message again.

I can't get any CD to boot, I tried the original repair disc that came with it, a Geek Squad MRI disc, and a fresh XP SP3 disc. Is there anyone that can help?
