Non-POSTing Pavilion ZE1000 notebook

Sorry if you have read this somewhere else...

I have a "Dead but breathing" (as someone else described it) Pavilion ZE1000 notebook. There are no lights on, no display (Internal or external) and no POST beeps, but the HDD turns fine, the CD is operational and the CPU fan keeps running when you try to turn the machine on. If "running" (in zombie-mode) for a while, the CPU gets warm, as well as the chipset IC. I can turn the machine normally by pressing the power button.

I checked the power suply (Ok), re-soldered the DC jack (Loose) and disconnected HDD, CD and floppy; I also tried to re-seat all the connectors I found, but the machine doesn't improve.

Are the un-lit LEDs an indication of a fried mobo, or is there anything else I should check before "calling it"? Specifically: is it possible the BIOS is doing this?

Thanks,

JR
