Some games look very messed up

I have a 9600XT, and ever since I reinstalled windows games like Halo look bad, When U start the game all U see is black and white blocks, no color at all, Anyone know what cause be causing this problem?

It could be a driver error. Did you install the newest drivers after the Windows reinstall? Older drivers will usually work OK with 2D graphics due to backwards compatibility, but anything that uses advanced 3D features may fail spectacularly, as yours has. Also check yourDirectX is up-to-date with the DXDiag command.
