BIOS seems Dead - Please Help

I've got a HP Media Center m1000y that I recently attempted to install a Slave HD into. After hooking everything up, making sure Master and Slave were set correctly I booted up my computer, only to get a blank screen, no error messages - nothing - BIOS hadn't even run. I immediately removed the second harddrive and hooked everything back up as it was - upon startup - the same problem. Fans are running, lights are on, and so on so I know this isn't a power supply problem. I've already attempted to reset the passwords - I've reset the CMOS breakers, and even tried taking the BIOS battery out to get it to reset. Still nothing happens. It seems to me that I some how fried the BIOS chip (it doesn't give ANY beeps upon startup) but I don't understand how I did (power was all unplugged). I'm guessing the next step is to try a new BIOS chip - however I want to make sure I've exhausted all options before purchasing one - or make sure this isn't a problem with something else. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated, or even if someone could clear up for me what exactly may have happened to lead to this. Thanks so much.
