hard drive failure?

I had a power outage last night, and my pc shut down. Now when I restart it I get the blue screen with this stop message: Stop:0x0000007a (0xc0384068, 0xc000000e, 0xe101aa06, 0x00d1b880) Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error

So i am wondering if my hard drive has died or if it is just some data corruption issue. I can't boot into windows, but using a knoppix live cd I get access to my hard drive and all the files on it, but everything is really slow. I scanned the hard disk for errors, but no errors were found and no bad sectors. So is my hard drive done and i need a new one?

btw i run windows 2000 professional on an hp omnibook xe3 =/ and the hard drive is a Toshiba MK8026GAX. I searched for my stop message on windows knowledge base and goole but couldn't find anything that seems to be my problem.

assuming that you may have corrupt data as U suspect. use your search eng. to find "repairxp.txt". if nothing else, download the file and read it CAREFULLY. it tells U how to reload the OS w/o loosing the important stuff such as liscensing, etc. the site itself also has info that I've found useful as I had to go through that myself. some apps may(and usually do) have to be reloaded for the sake of the registry, etc.
