laptop=bright lcd, no images

Laptop screen stays brightly lit and blank while on. Can't see any characters or images etc. Also when you press the fn + brightness keys, the brightness adjusts. Tested with external monitor and laptop works fine of that. It seems like the invertor or backlight may be ok or maybe its a dead lcd panel then? Tried disconnecting then re-seating lcd connectors, but no joy. Any help appreciated!

i'd probably look for a used monitor for your exact monitor from an online auction.
