Re: Blue screen Driver IRQL not less or equal

I tried this. Nothing was grayed out, but the icon for Other Devices, and for the one device listed below it (a Gateway 30" monitor) was a yellow, 3D question mark.

Re: Blue screen Driver IRQL not less or equal
Similar issue here, I've had the IRQL BOSD, amongst another half dozen.

Got Win 7 a couple days ago along with a Nvidia 260gtx. Installed Win 7, got that up and running then put the vid card in, everything was dandy. Updated all the drivers to Win 7 when available and installed my basic programs (word processing, web browsers, etc). Then the other day I was playing Arkham Asylum, and my comp froze. Did a forced restart and then everything went to hell. I can no longer access windows 7 or xp, everytime i try to run a disk check it restarts, ditto with the win 7 memory diagnostic, I moved the vid card to the other PCI express slot farthest from the chipset, moved the hdds to get better air flow and been running with the case open thinking it may have been heating issues, didn't work. Then i started removing ram dimms one at a time and testing thosem no dice so i bought 2 new dimms, still no go. For a brief time i was able to get win 7 to work for a few min at a time, but a few min later comps would restart, i was able to kinda fix it by using the system restore but that no longer works. I have also reformatted the windows drive and tried to reinstall XP and Win 7, neither works. Win XP partially installs but reboots, win 7 partially installs but then something weird happens and it wont boot. Tried booting in safe mode, but it get to loding the classpnp file and just stops.

System:
Athlon 64 x2 5600 2.8ghz
MSI k9n4 sli-f am2 nforce 500sli
600w PS
geforce gtx 260 core 216 896mb
80gb sata 7200rpm (OS HDD)
Kingston 4gb ddr2 667mhz (4 DIMMs)

I think some of the fixes given earlier would work, but since I can't actually get into windows, even in safe mode, i can't try any of them. Gotten a bunch of BSODs through the whole process, copied down all the error messages, but i can't find most of them online, and those that i can find can only be resolved by actually having access to the desktop., which i don't have.

New development!!!: I cannot even boot from the win 7 or xp disks!!!!!!

Anything that I can try would be helpful.

You should start a new Thread so that other users can answer your Question. Plugging your request into someonelse's question may not get any other replies.

Move it back to it's original position and this will possibly solve your problem. The video card should not be moved after you have loaded windows.

The video card should always be placed closest to CPU at all times. If you use a sound card, it should always be placed fartherest from CPU.

Moving components after your installation will cause problems, if not immediately, then in future boots.

Do a "check for new components".

Put in your Boot CD/DVD. Go to managemnt console then type in CHKDSK /P

If you play games and do not save often, you can burn out the video ram and/or Ram. You can also corrupt your HDD.

Re: Blue screen Driver IRQL not less or equal
Hi all,
I had the same issues with BSOD/iastor.sys and couldn't boot most times. Spent a few days trying to rollback, repair, restore, even rebuild the MBR, but nothing worked. It turned out to be a nasty rootkit infection. Had to use kapersky's tdsskiller.exe to kill it. I was able to boot into safemode with command prompt and run it (though 9 times out of ten safe mode would BSOD). Once I got it to run it took about 30 seconds to find it and kill it. See these threads and sites for more info:

Good luck!
