disk error

ok, i have a sony vaio, and ive had it for about 5 years. Its worked great, now, not good. I turn it on, and it will say sony, then goes black, then says "disk error" press ctrl alt del.

Any guesses on what I should do?

Seems like your hard disk drive has gone bad. You'll need to get the HD replaced. Hope you backed up your data.

try to get your hands on some partition magic startup disks (2 floppy disks) you might have a bad sectorm if some one have partition magic loaded in his pc then you creat these disks.

I'm not too sure about that. Since the computer specifically says Disk error, I'm inclined to believe the disk has gone bad. However, there is a possibility that the disk itself is fine, but the controller that's gone bad. I'd recommend you get the device serviced by Sony.
