laptop doesn't recognize hard drive

Expand Post »
My laptop was broken after I put it in checked luggage on a plane flight. On power-up, it stated that there were no bootable devices, so I decided the hard drive had been broken and bought another one. However, it doesn't recognize the new hard drive either and says there is no modular bay device either -- so I assume it doesn't see my DVD drive either. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Re: laptop doesn't recognize hard drive

Assuming by "broken", you mean that it sustained physical damage, you should take it to a repair shop and have it examined. Even the smallest fracture on the circuit boards could be responsible for major problems.
