PC Doesn't start

Expand Post »
Hi all

Not sure if I'm in the right place because I'm not a techie, but am happy to open pc and have added memory & network cards etc at work.

I have a problem with pc at home and wondered if anyone had any advice.

When i press the power button the power light goes but pc doesn't power up, the fans go for a few seconds then nothing.

If I hold down the reset button and press power at same time then the fan keeps running but still no action on the pc.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Rob

Probably your power supply is on its way out. You can pick up a new one for around $50. It's also non-trivial to install.

Get one with the same power, or more.

Re: PC Doesn't start

you might have a hardware problem.

- have you installed any add-ons like memory and cards?
- have you done a hardware troubleshooting?

for some tips, go to this site:
