My Sony Vaio is about to die and iam trying to save her, please help anyone

when i turn my sony vaio on it skips the boot-up screen and goes to the Microsoft Windows xp screen, then it goes to a blue screen and says (windows is starting up....) but it never starts up. the screen just stays blue. i dont know what to do..... any advice anyone
