Laptop not powering on after power surge

Expand Post »
To someone that can help!

I connected my Compaq Presario V2205US to my car cigarette lighter power inverter and it somehow short circuited causing the fuse to blow. I managed to change the fuse in the car so that the cigarette lighter and car stereo started to work.

Unfortunately the laptop doesnt power on now. I took it to the Geek Squad at Bestbuy who tested the laptop AC power adaptor and seems to be working fine. I guess I must have damaged the power jack or something else. Sadly, the laptop just went out of the 1 year warranty.

Anyone have any suggestions as to whether I might be able to fix it myself maybe by replacing the power jack?

Would greatly appreciate any suggestions!
