Desktop Won't Boot Up - Never Mind

Expand Post »
Earlier this evening, I turned on my desktop (Presario S4000V with Windows XP Pro, 2 MB RAM) and it would not boot up. The green light on the left of the on/off button flashes steadily and the yellow light on the right of the on/off button stays on. The PC cycles throught the CD drive, then the DVD drive and then the 3.5" drive, but doesn't beep like it normally does afterwards, and the monitor is on, but is not receiving any signal. I spoke with HP's Tech Support online and followed the guy's instructions (unplug everything from PC and turn on, remove and reset cards in machine then turn on), but that didn't help. Any suggestions, or has anyone seen this before. The only thing I've been doing differently is that lately, I've been using the "standby mode" instead of turning off the PC. -----NEVER MIND.

While I was typing this post, I decided to unplug the PC and hold down the power button for 60 seconds (don't know why, just remember hearing this somewhere), anyway, after plugging cord back in, it started back up. I also said a prayer - seriosly. Hope this helps someone else.
