Tecra 8100 POST Error Beeps

Expand Post »
I have a tecra 8100 that has had a post problem. originally i did not get any disk drive spin, fan spin, dvd power, or screen activity. it turned out that the cpu was not fully locked in the socket. after locking the cpu i now get the hd to spin/read and dvd to spin. when i shut off the laptop i get a post error beep code of 1 long beep followed by 29 short beeps. Can anyone tell me what this code means?

Thanks
Jim

Re: Tecra 8100 POST Error Beeps

Hi Jim
Who makes your BIOS? Is it Award, American Megatrends Inc Etc? You should be able to establish this by looking at the screen on startup. It will tell you to press a key e.g Delete to enter setup. Tell me what is said at the top of the setup page.
If you can provide that information for me I can look up as to what these beeps may mean.
However it does seem peculiar that they occur on shutdown rather then startup
