Audio Problem

This morning I was unable to get my speakers to make any sound. I already checked all my audio settings on Windows XP. Power is getting to the speakers. When I put a CD into my drive it does not play. My iTunes library also will not play. I have re-booted my pc but still no luck. I don't even get the Windows audio on boot-up. Is my sound card gone? My pc worked fine last night when I was playing my CD's. Can anyone please advise what I need to do? Thanks

Have you checked for driver updates? Could a different cord be pulled out? In the adiuo options make sure mute isn't checked.
