keyboard not working after opening for cleaning

hi there
I have this keyboards that I got to clean for someone.I opened them and cleaned all the keys but apon closing them they no longer works even after rebooting countless times.What could have happened, are they dead or what?
They are compaq's keyboards. I'm one confused guy.

Dismantle it again. Reassemble it correctly. You will most likely have some internal component out of place, and it is stopping the keyboard from functioning.

It is not a good idea to disassemble keyboards for cleaning!

I have reassembled them several times and it looks kike nothing is happening

What did you use to clean the keyboards? Air or some kind of liquid?

Are these desktop or laptop keyboards.
