electronic goods

I just want to experiment with a few electronic things and am a complete beginner.
could someone tell me where i could get stuffs like microcontrollers, transmitters, receivers and other stuff (all very low level and very cheap) so as to play off with them.
or exactly what kind of shops i should look for,preferrably in india

Radio shack (www.radioshack.com) still sells a lot of this stuff on their online site you might Start there (Sorry don't really know if they have shipping to India though). There are also many learning boards that you can get (similar to what schools use in labs) but they don't really run "cheap".
