Problem with Keyboard freezing

Hi, I have no experience in reparing computers but my friend said you guys might know. My keyboard in my laptop just randomly freezes?? any suggestions to fixing it ^^;

-I have a compaq presario 700 laptop x.x

I recommend that you try an external keyboard first to see if the problem persists -- an internal and external keyboard use different controllers. If that clears the problem up, there are a couple of possibilities. The most likely cause is a loose or oxidized flex-cable.
