External Hard drive not recognizable

Expand Post »
Haven't posted in a LONG LONG TIME

Here is the problem:

About 2 months ago, I bought a 200GB external HD from NewEgg.com

Everything was peachy-keen until today.

The thing will turn on, but my computer will not recognize it.
When I turn it on, it beeps.. not just one or two.. but it is a sequence, like something you would hear out of a video game.

I have tried switching the USB ports, nothing
I have tried letting it power down for several minutes then turning it back on... nothing.

Is it just me, or does it sound like the thing is corrupt?

Any ideas?

Re: External Hard drive not recognizable

When you say "it beeps" are you talking computer or drive? If you unplug the drive does the computer start up normally? If so you may either remove the hard drive and try it in you're computer, or return it, it should be under warranty
