fixing iphone on my own?

i got iphone with no contract so no support is available for me. the mic is not working because i spilled some water on the phone :( is there any way to fix the phone on my own or should i just trow it away? i'm not really geeky but curiosity can make me do many things :) everything else is working fine, just no one can hear me talking when i make/receive calls. and the mic was working for several days after the accident with water. any ideas?
