looking to purchase a netbook but i am stripped for cash, and i was looking into this dell mini ( http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-mini1018/pd?oc=fncwfx1&model_id=inspiron-mini1018) the price is good for me, but the only thing i fear is that it just wont be enough, i really wont be doing to vigorous of work i only plan to use this netbook for college work such as writing papers, internet, typing code, compiling code, and watch a movie here and there.

do you guys think that this computer would have and slow effect on compile times and such?

depends on what you're compiling. i'd say that a netbook would be fine for all the tasks you have there... your school should have computers available if you need something bigger to do some heavy lifting.
