HP laptop, No display, Black screen

HP Pavilion dv6636 (dv6500) Screen is totally black. Machine boots up and displays on external monitor just fine.
Have checked the Inverter - no change. Did a hard reset (battery out, power cord out, power button held 40 sec., no change.

what am I missing ? I'd hate to have to dissemble this much further. Can recover/access my data and back it up.

Most probably your system has over heated.Your CPU fan might be the reason.check the fan and replace it

according to speed fan and cpuz it's well within the heat levels reccom. Cleaned entire internal areas with canned air, and light brush where req'd.
Tested lcd and cannot get response on test machine, so researching new lcd and cable.
