How to: Sell Ads

I'm new to the whole web page design, marketing business. And actually, I just built a page for fun. The thing is, my website is huge... I'm averaging over 7100 hits a day, and you can't even find it in Google!! One of my colleagues suggested I start selling banner ads to businesses.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to sell ads to companies or would they even be interested?

Could you give a little more info on your website? The amount of hits per day is rather meaningless. Pageviews and unique visitors are the major factors for advertising.
