Best place for AdSense on Forums?

Expand Post »
I run a << url snipped to comply with forum policy >> and I have placed AdSense there. I have heard that there are a lots of webmasters who are making good $$$s from Adsense. I am sorry to say but I am making almost nothing with Adsense. Nobody seems to clicking on the Ads. I have converted my forums to Search Engine freindly, tried changed the colors (border, background etc.) for Ads etc. but there is no improvments.

I want to hear from other Forum Owners ... how is AdSence doing for them? What is the best place to put ADs on the forums? Is it between your posts or header or footer? Which AD format does the best for you?

I would like to hear your REAL exp.

Re: Best place for AdSense on Forums?

After the first post and above the quick reply boxes have worked the best for me.

To show AdSense after the first post, edit the POSTBIT or POSTBIT_LEGACY template - at the very bottom add:
<if condition="$post[postcount]==1">ADSENSE HERE</if>
Edit the SHOWTHREAD template and put AdSense above the Quick Reply.

Re: Best place for AdSense on Forums?

Thanks cscgal!

This is exactly how I have been running ADs on my forums. I show ads after first post and if their are more than 5 replies I show another banner after last post (above quick reply) but I am not getting much results from that. Anyway, thanks for sharing your exp. I have already been learning a lots of things from you I have recently applied your Search Engine Freindly hack on my forums.

One more thing... I have just integrated Webmaster Directory with my forums. Hope this will bring some extra traffic and $$$s too

I can only recommend you to have a look at this post about the best places to put Adsense in vbulletin forums. Helped me to increase my CTR by 1-2 percent.

Good luck.

The best place to put your adsense ads in right after the first post. By the way, does your site have more visitors?
