Creating Apps for IPhone or Palm Pre as a way to market business

Many businesses have created free iphone apps to plug their businesses. Now that the Palm Pre is in business and is predicted to gain market share, I wonder if businesses will add "creating a mobile app" as part of their marketing strategy. What do you think?
