It depends on your business. Let me give you an idea of a colleague. She's an Etsy seller, but she's also a mom, and she draws mommies to her fan page by posting mothering tips on a daily basis, even if she does not have a new item every day.

What do you do? What's your business? My main fan page was sitting idle on the water until I did two things:

1- I joined 2 Facebook groups on my niche and let them know I was around the Facebook neighborhood and everyone started "liking" my page as they came, took a look at it and liked what I had to offer.

2- Post often. That that was the tough thing for me! Posting several times a week keeps people coming and it gets you more visitors than even those who have subscribed to your page. I have thousands of visitors (according to Facebook stats)but only 360-some subscribers. So long as you can turn visits into conversions, you don't really care about that.

One last tip, get yourself some of those terrific Facebook apps (there are some great ones out there!) to make your page more interactive with your followers. I don't need those because I am really sending people to my blog, but if you want a strong Facebook presence, do what the big guys do.
