Can American Idol affect Website Traffic Rankings?

I just finished reading an article that gave me some food for thought regarding my own site traffic and website traffic in general. its quit a popular show but not one im watching ... they should do the same study for LOST or see what the web traffic looks like on Sunday Night when HBO airs its fresh tv shows ... that would be some interesting news since I'd be part of it
