Video search engine means which search only videos.
I think what CSCGal was questioning was the existence of such an animal. To my knowledge, beyond YouTube, Vimeo and and the ability to seach videos only in the big 3 SE's, I have never heard of a video-only search engine.

Blinkx and you all missed it....

No one has mentioned Blinkx ? It is a video search engine (and a dam fine one too!)

Arrive at Blinkx via Google - enter your search terms and Blinkx will harvest search results from all of the usual suspects (and more) - YT, Vimeo, MetaCafe, Daily Motion, MSN Video, and on and on.

With blinkx, you will never need any other video search facility. (sorry if this sounds like advertising copy, but I have not yet given up the day job!)

Blinkx!

Re: best video search engines?

As has been pointed out elsewhere in this thread, YouTube is NOT a search engine; it is a video hosting resource with an integrated search facility allowing users to search for videos ON YouTube.

On the other hand blinkx is a specialised search engine; submit your search term there and it will return results from YouTube, GoogleVideo, MetaCafe, MSN Video, DailyMotion and dozens of other video hosting sites.

Blinkx presents an opportunity to view videos from all of the major (and many of the smaller) video hosting sites in one window. Try it - you might be surprised at just how good it is.
