what is unique content?

Im looking to find out what distinguishes content as unique content in Google's eyes.
If I've got a web page selling different items, and want to separate these items onto different web pages so that i can have the exact keywords in the domain name, will Google frown upon this?
Do i need different addresses and phone numbers on each website so that they aren't seen as duplicate copy's?
I work for a wholesale vendor with a wide variety of wholesale products, and it seems like a good idea to separate different products to increase organic placement, as well as increase the chances via PPC for the customer to find our pages useful, as apposed to someone looking for one specific item and landing on a page with other items. (i hope this makes sense...) We want the customer to find the item they are looking for with ease.

So how do i ensure unique content? WHAT IS unique content and WHY is it unique? Do i need different addresses and phone numbers on each separate website to ensure Google doesn't think I'm duplicating the same site? (im not looking to get ahead via black hat practices.)

Would it be better to create one landing page and link out to each different type of item? OR create separate websites?

I think that unique content is the content that is not found anywhere else on the web.

As you say, you sell different kinds of items. So for easch items with its own keywords, I bet your Article or Content should be different as well. So you can always create a unique article for each. Right?

Having multiple web sites performing separate functions is a good idea. Make sure that you cross-link them in a way that gels the relevance and highlights the important web pages (most likely the various landing pages).

You can use the same addresses and phone numbers, try to present them uniquely and position them in different places ie: on one web site put it in the header, another the footer, sidebar menu ... The search engine understands that often it requires more than one web site to deliver information logically.

Your web sites would work better if they each had their own unique architectecture (coding and layout mostly but navigation system too). Create some in a blog format to facilitate variation.

It is not wise to use the same copy (paragraphs) across multiuple web pages. The search engine will deem one more authentic than the others but award little value to the duplicates.

If the product description is supplied by the manufacturer chances are that it is already somewhere on the web. Take the time to rewrite generic content that you cannot avoid using to describe your products.

It just seems so difficult because the items are so... bland. And there isnt much i can say different than other suppliers... (or so it feels)

Hm. :-/

Hi,

Good post! I think Unique is not the word for online content! I think it should be your own relevant content that you or your writer writes about your specific niche with out copying other website content! then it will be unique! I think if you write your own article with your own words it is the best written article for google eye!
I always follow that and I do get more traffic to my own hand written article than I read and copy from other website.

Have a Great Day God Bless!

Hi,
Content that is not found anywhere else on the web. This differs from duplicate content such as RSS feeds which are made available to multiple other sites.

Hello nice thread mate and nice replies by others i would like to tell that according to new Google algorithms the content of website should not be copied or copied. You have to write content of your website by yourself and it should be unique which means it does not seems like copied or spam. Take care.

do not copy paste content from some one site.create your own paragraphs and try to include the material what user is searching for. so that user start thinking that he is at right place.

This is solved, so a stone just to agitate you.:)

"Who cares!";) I had to, for taking it, some kudos.

On a more serious note.
I have found that using proper headings helps a lot, copying directly from someone else is a no go!, but I'm not that well versed.

A content which is different from the other text can be unique.
The meaning of the text can be similar and it may have similar meanings. But the wording must be different from the other text.
