301 Redirection - Need Advise

Expand Post »
Hi,

I am having a website with dynamic URLs currently i have planned to
make the URLs static. But,

My dynamic URLs are having good PR and indexed. Can i put a 301
redirection to my dynamic URL to static URL?

Will my PR be maintained? I am very much concerned about my PR!
If so, in which way redirection is recommended? Through Coding or
Hosting?

Kindly Help!!!

Re: 301 Redirection - Need Advise

1) Your PR should be retained

2) No redirect is perfect. If your site is established doing this may cause you to take a hit in rankings and traffic

3) There's nothing wrong with dynamic URLs as they can be indexed just fine.

Re: 301 Redirection - Need Advise

As long as ur dynamic links are indexed and have PR then I don't see any reason to conver them into static urls.

301 should help you in keeing the PR and traffic.

Re: 301 Redirection - Need Advise

If you have decided on a static url format then keeping the same url format throughout the site makes sense. Doing a 301 from your dynamic urls to static ones is recommended in this case.
