Re: What Forum Do You Use?

We use PHPBB for our forum: www.ewebdevelopment.net/forum/

No complaints, although I do wish we went w/ VBulletin. Too late now though, have too many pages indexed...

I thought about converting to VB but as I said I know IPB inside out .
Hi Scribbler, I wonder if you are the same scrib I know from that other forum? This is my 1st post here.
I just did a google for vBulletin quick quote and this page came up.

Anyway I am pretty new at Admin, I have IPB and was wondering if its possible to get the quick quote button like they have on vBulletin.
Highlight text click quick and it inserts the text with quote name, without opening Advanced (or, More Options). Gr8 for multi quotes, that you cant do with just a quote button.
Possible to hack it into Invision Power Board. You seem to know what you are talking about, as usual.

Oh, BTW I didnt want to hijack this thread so if you could direct me to an area where this is more appropriate, please do.

As for IPB, I don't think I have ever used a site (that I can remember) that actually uses IPB...
forum.emule-project.net
www.gmailforums.com
forums.invisionpower.com
www.webdiscussion.net

Just do a Google search for "powered by invision power board" (with the quotes.) You'll get plenty.

As for me, I use (but have an increasing dislike for) phpBB. It's
not the best one, just the best free one.

Re: What Forum Do You Use?

I see most computer-related forums using phpBB. I made my own forums, so I selected "other". You can take a quick look at what I have published so far, but current version is still on my pc. (its in development)

<< url snipped >>

I know, doesn't do much currently. The login code is almost done and then I'll add support for the BB-style tags. Which any forum you chose to go with I'd reccommend sticking with those tags as standard. Most people are familiar with them, which is why I'm sticking with those rather than trying to make my own standard.

Never heard of that, but I like the name.

Re: What Forum Do You Use?

Hello everyone. I am new to this site but I think I may find some answers here. I am in the process of developing an online community and was also wondering what forum I should use. I have checked out vBulletin and it looks pretty good but if you buy the license can you use it for as many forums as you want on one site? How easy is it to install and start using? If anyone could sum up why this is the forum to use I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks in advance.

Re: What Forum Do You Use?

I've been using WBB for the past three years and for the price ($25) I got my money's worth, it is easy to use for the users as well as for the admins
