I study right whales, one of the rarest mammals on earth, off Cape Cod. My work is largely in the field, at sea with the animals, however we have great need for data managment and data logging capacity, hence my sorry effort to program a data logger (in VB), which is why I am looking for help on Daniweb. Because our work is in an environmental field with nearly extinct species we are very short on funds (these are tough times for rare animals!) but very long on need (our lab is a non-profit)so we just don't have $$ to hire people who are pros. Hence I do alot of the critical programming of very simple programs - still our work is important and my capacity to solve some code writing issues is so poor that a lot of our studies suffer from my incompetency. Additionally I am interested in a creative effort to write a display program that mimics right whale movement and energetics and have, in the past, collaborated with a very talented C++ programmer who worked with me to write a very exciting demo program. I am now hoping to collaborate with an interested specialist to write the full-on foraging and behavior program with the hope of eventually finding funds appropriate to the effort.
