Alienware Introduces Rack Servers
High performance gaming and media center computer systems manufacturer Alienware announced today that it has made available a new product line of high performance rack mountable servers.
Dubbed the Hivemind series, the servers come in both single and dual processor configurations, and can support up to a reported 2.4TB of SATA data storage, or 1.8TB of SCSI storage.
With a random access memory capacity of 12GB, the servers are designed to offer “performance, scalability, reliability and security, according to an Alienware press release.
“In response to the increasing number of companies that are relying on Alienware's award-winning desktops and notebooks for their pressing business needs, Alienware has developed the next-generation line of Hivemind rack servers to meet additional demands for government and corporate customers," said Alienware CEO Nelson Gonzalez.
The servers will feature up to two Intel Xeon 64 Bit processors, mirroring the cutting edge image that the company’s existing desktop systems already have.
“In a business world that can be highly volatile, Alienware’s Hivemind servers add a critical measure of reliability and performance for everything from data warehouse applications to messaging at a great value, said Gonzalez.
Currently only available to US customers, the company hopes to introduce Hivemind servers to the European market shortly.
